What data we process

We process the data you provide yourself: name, email address, phone number and the description of your matter that you send us. In an ongoing engagement, the data the matter requires is added, which may include special-category data and data relating to criminal offences.

Why, and on what legal basis

Before an engagement begins we process the data in order to answer your enquiry and make a first assessment — the basis is our legitimate interest in responding to those who contact us. Within an engagement, data is processed to perform the agreement with you, to comply with legal obligations, and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

The form on this website

The contact form is submitted to our own web server, which emails the content directly to info@oakstreamjuridik.se. No third party sees the data along the way, and the content is not stored on the server. We log the sender’s IP address in the message as protection against misuse. If you prefer not to use the form, email or phone works just as well.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no cookies and uses no visitor analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your IP address is sent to Google when the page loads. See our cookie policy for details.

How long we keep data

Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted when no longer needed, normally within six months. Documents in an engagement are kept as long as needed for the matter, and thereafter as long as legislation, professional standards or liability questions require. Records covered by the Swedish Accounting Act are kept for seven years.

Who we share data with

We disclose data only where needed for the engagement or where the law requires it — for example to a court, an opposing party, an authority or an insurer when applying for legal expenses cover. We use suppliers of email, forms and document storage who process data as processors. We never sell personal data.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to your data, rectification of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. These rights may be limited where the data is covered by professional secrecy or is needed to handle a legal claim. Contact us to exercise them.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we process your personal data you can lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se.
