01

Cohabitation & partner immigration

Advice when you move in together — and when a partner is moving to Sweden.

Swedish cohabitation law gives weaker protection than marriage: only the shared home and household goods acquired for joint use are included in a division of property. We go through what actually applies to you, what a cohabitation agreement can regulate and how your finances are affected if you separate.

For partner immigration we help with documentation and the application to the Swedish Migration Agency: we go through the requirements, gather what supports the relationship and make sure the application holds together before it is filed.

  • Review of cohabitation law and your protection
  • Cohabitation agreements and promissory notes
  • Residence permit applications based on family ties
  • Support with follow-up requests from the Migration Agency

Buying & selling a home

Support through the property deal — contracts, surveys and claims.

We read purchase contracts, disclosure lists and survey reports and explain what you have actually committed to. We assess whether a defect is hidden or discoverable, how your duty to investigate relates to the seller's duty to disclose, and what is reasonable to claim.

If the deal goes wrong we take it further: complaint within the deadline, demand letters, negotiation and — where needed — litigation. You get a clear picture of the position and the costs before we proceed.

  • Review of purchase contracts and survey reports
  • Assessment of hidden defects and the duty to investigate
  • Complaints and demand letters against seller or buyer
  • Claims against the surveyor

Estate-agent errors & FMI

Assessing the agent's liability, demand letters and a complaint to FMI.

A Swedish estate agent must look after the interests of both buyer and seller and disclose what may be assumed to matter. We assess whether the agent breached that duty of care — wrong floor area, missing disclosure, flaws in the property description or the handling of the bidding — and what that may mean.

We gather the documentation, write demand letters to the agent or their liability insurer and, where needed, prepare a clear complaint to the estate-agent supervisory authority (FMI).

  • Assessment of the duties of care and disclosure
  • Claims for reduced commission or damages
  • Complaint to the estate-agent inspectorate
  • Contact with the agent's insurer

Complaint to IMY (GDPR)

Help drafting a complaint or statement — and holding a clear line through the case.

Has someone handled your personal data wrongly — shared it, filmed you, registered you or refused to erase it? We review whether there is a legal basis for the processing and draft a complaint to the Swedish data-protection authority (IMY) that is concrete enough to be handled.

If you are the one being complained about, we help with the response: what needs answering, what documentation is needed and how to describe your routines without promising more than you can keep.

  • Complaint to IMY with supporting evidence
  • Statements and responses to the authority
  • Requests for access and erasure
  • Assessment of the legal basis

05

Faulty goods

Complaint, repair, price reduction, cancellation or damages.

We review whether the goods are faulty in the legal sense, whether you complained in time and which remedy is strongest in your case. The rules differ depending on whether you bought as a consumer or as a business — that decides both the deadlines and what you can demand.

We handle contact with the seller, write the demand letter and take the matter to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN) or to court if it is not resolved.

  • Assessment of the defect and the complaint deadline
  • Choice of remedy: repair, replacement, price reduction, cancellation
  • Demand letters and negotiation with the seller
  • Case to ARN or to court

Division of property

From mapping assets and debts to a finished settlement agreement.

We map assets and debts as at the cut-off date, review what counts as marital property and what is separate property, and calculate how an equal split actually lands. The home, the loans, pensions and any company are usually what decide the outcome.

The result is a division agreement clear enough to hold — and one the bank can use when a loan is taken over. We can represent one of you or produce the documentation you both work from.

  • Mapping of assets, debts and the cut-off date
  • Marital property, separate property and prenuptial agreements
  • Calculation and a proposed equal split
  • A finished division agreement

07

Divorce

Steady help through the whole process, with as little conflict as possible.

We help with the divorce petition, keep track of the reconsideration period and the final filing, and go through the financial consequences before you make decisions that are hard to undo.

Where children are involved the focus is clarity and the lowest possible level of conflict — residence, contact and maintenance need to work in everyday life, not just on paper.

  • The reconsideration period and what it means
  • Division of property and financial consequences
  • Residence, contact and maintenance

08

Company law

Advice for companies and owners — contracts and clear decision points.

We help companies and owners with the agreements that actually decide things: customer and supplier contracts, shareholder agreements, engagement and cooperation agreements. We rewrite what is unclear and point out where the risk sits.

We also go through board and ownership questions, liability and what happens if someone wants out. You get concrete decision points instead of a list of caveats.

  • Customer, supplier and cooperation agreements
  • Shareholder agreements and ownership changes
  • Board liability and governance
  • Disputes with customers or suppliers

09

Data protection for business

Practical GDPR — routines, processor agreements and an action list you can work with.

We review what personal data you actually process, on what basis and for how long. Then we produce what is missing: records of processing, information for customers and employees, processor agreements and routines for erasure.

If an incident occurs we help with the assessment and the notification within 72 hours, and with communicating to those affected.

  • Mapping and records of processing
  • Data processing agreements
  • Privacy policy and information notices
  • Incident handling and notification to IMY

Charged with a crime

A quick review of where things stand, and support before questioning and trial.

If you are a suspect or charged, we quickly review the suspicion and the evidence, explain what you are obliged to answer and what you are not, and prepare you for questioning.

We go through the investigation file, prepare your position and support you throughout the process. For more serious offences a public defence counsel is normally appointed — we explain how that works and what it means for you.

  • Review of the suspicion and the evidence
  • Your rights during questioning
  • Preparation for trial
  • The question of public defence counsel

Review of a dropped investigation

Requesting a review when the prosecutor drops or declines to open an investigation.

A decision to drop a preliminary investigation, or not to open one, can be sent for review by a senior prosecutor. We go through the decision and the evidence and write a request that points to what has not been investigated and why it matters.

We are clear about the premise: a review does not change the decision by itself, but well-founded documentation is what makes the difference when the case is read again.

  • Review of the decision to drop the case
  • What has not been investigated
  • Request for review to the prosecution chamber
  • Escalation to the prosecution development centre

Support before a police report

Help preparing and wording a clear police report.

A report that is hard to follow often ends up at the bottom of the pile. We help you structure the sequence of events, gather what supports your account and word the report so it is easy to understand and act on.

We also go through what happens after the report, what to expect from the handling and when it is time to request a victim's counsel.

  • Structuring the sequence of events
  • Gathering evidence and documentation
  • Wording the report
  • What happens after the report

FAQ

Questions we get often

What does it cost to engage you?

It depends on the matter. You get a price proposal and a plan before we start, and we tell you if anything changes the picture along the way. Describe your matter briefly and we will come back with a first assessment and what the next step costs.

How quickly will I get an answer?

Usually within one business day. If the matter is urgent — a deadline running out, for example — say so in your message and we will prioritise it.

Can I get help in English?

Yes. Advice, meetings and documents are available in Swedish or English.

Can we meet online?

Yes. Meetings take place at the office in Borås or digitally. Many matters can be handled entirely remotely.

Can my home insurance cover the cost?

Many Swedish home insurance policies include legal expenses cover that can pay part of the cost in certain disputes. We help you check whether it applies to your matter and handle the application to the insurer.

What is the difference between a jurist and an advokat?

An advokat is a member of the Swedish Bar Association and bound by its rules. A jurist holds a law degree and can represent you in most matters, including civil cases in court. In criminal cases, public defence counsel is normally appointed from among advokater. We will tell you straight away if your matter should go to an advokat.

Do you take cases outside Borås?

Yes. The office is in Borås, but cases are taken across Sweden — meetings are held digitally where distance makes that easier.

What should I send ahead of the first meeting?

Whatever you have: contracts, email threads, decisions from an authority, survey reports, invoices or receipts. If nothing is documented that is fine too — start with a short description of what happened and when.
